Deep is a 2017 American and Spain computer-animated film directed by Julio Soto Gurpide.

Storyline

In 2100, when humanity has abandoned the earth, a colony of extravagant creatures still thrives in the deepest abyss of the ocean. Deep, an adventurous "dumbo" octopus and the last one of his kind lives there with his two unconditional friends: Evo, a nerdy and clumsy angler fish, and Alice, a neurotic deep-sea shrimp. When an accident destroys their home, the guardian of the abyss, The Kraken, will send Deep and his friends on a perilous journey to find a new home. In their mission, they will be joined by Maura -a voracious moray eel- and together they will travel to amazing places like the submerged city of New York, the Titanic or the Arctic, facing formidable enemies and hilarious situations. Will they be able to bring the oceans back to their former glory?

Plot

The cartoon takes place in the post-apocalyptic future, where, because of the actions of people, the planet Earth was subjected to an ecological catastrophe, as a result of which the Earth was flooded. In parallel with this, sea inhabitants also suffered a catastrophe. Octopus-Grimpoteuthis Kraken managed to save several inhabitants and formed a safe place with them, where they began to continue to live there.

Kraken's grandson, Deep, considers life to be boring, but shows an interest in objects made by people ever. Also in his actions, he also involves his friends: angler fish Evo and shrimp Alice. Soon one of Deep's "pranks" leads to the fact that he accidentally endangered the inhabitants of his native place, because of which they were immured stones. Deep learns from Kraken that only the white whale Nathan can help them, and calls the grandson the necessary landmarks where Nathan can be found. Deep with Evo and Alice set out to find Nathan.

After passing several landmarks, friends get to the sunken ship, where they find the calmar Norma, which makes her listen to her performance, and then she tells them that in order to find Nathan, they need to get to Broadway. Also, the heroes had to get out of the ship with difficulty, since Norma did not let them go.

Along the way, Deep is attacked by moray Maura, but immediately after hearing from him that he has friends, he admits that she is lonely. Deep takes the Mora with him to the team, despite the fact that Alice and Evo were against taking a predator that almost ate them on the first night.

Having reached the Brooklyn Bridge, the friends found themselves surrounded by crabs, where their leader, the yeti crab Rico, requires a dance battle so that he can skip them. Alice taking part in the action, strikes Rico with his performance, and he falls in love with her. After that, the heroes pass through the Brooklyn Bridge, then on the streets of flooded New York, strangely enter the radiation zone and overcome a number of difficulties.

Soon, when it was not clear where, between the characters there are disagreements, where everyone accuses Deep on a dangerous journey. But then they meet the penguin Darcy and his assistants: the walrus Luigi and the dolphin Ralph. While Darcy and Luigi distracted the main characters by watching the film about the project "Ark-1" and "Ark-2" (which saved people, leaving the Earth and went to settle another planet), they discuss the plan to deceive them by freezing and leave the Earth on the "Ark-3", also for deceiving involve the Maura.

When the heroes were replaced in a trap, they finally met Nathan, who was chained, and then immediately learned of Darcy's plan to freeze everyone, including the deceived Mora, who had not fallen into the trap. Deep, Alice and Evo managed to disable the car without letting it freeze, and then get out of the locked cell and join Maura in battle against Darcy, Luigi and Ralph. As a result, they triumph over the trio and are selected from the already-going "Ark-3" along with Nathan.

Returning home, the characters, along with Nathan, begin to free the stuck in the rubble of Kraken and the people, where Deep nearly sacrificed his life to completely free himself of the debris. After liberation, Maura begins to offer an idea where it will be possible to start fertilizing and increase the population, while Deep (doubting that he was left one of his kind) appears the second half.
