The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Calls the Stars (劇場版 魔法科高校の劣等生 星を呼ぶ少女 Gekijōban Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Hoshi o Yobu Shōjo) is a 2017 Japanese animated film based on The Irregular at Magic High School light novel series written by Tsutomu Satō. The film is produced by 8-bit and directed by Risako Yoshida, featuring an original story by Satō and music by Taku Iwasaki. The movie events will unfold between the 10th and 11th volumes of the original novel and the film itself was released in Japan on June 17, 2017.

Production

The development of the movie was revealed in the 19th light novel volume which was released in March 2016. The film will feature a plot scripted by series creator Tsutomu Satō, and will premiere in Japan on June 17, 2017. All of the voice cast from the anime will reprise their roles.

On the Dengeki Game Festival 2017 event in Tokyo on Sunday March 12, more details have been revealed about the film, including more cast members, the theme song artist, and a fourth key visual. Also, the film's official website added the promotional video for the film. Risako Yoshida, who served as a unit director and a storyboarder on the anime television series, is directing the film at studio 8-Bit. Original light novel series illustrator Kana Ishida is returning to serve as the character designer and chief animation director. Original light novel author Tsutomu Satō is writing an original new story for the film, and he and WriteWorks are writing the script. Taku Iwasaki is returning to compose the music. On April 19, the official website revelead three new cast members and new visual, and on April 29, the third teaser is shown up, included date of special screening. On May 31, the official website began streaming a trailer for film,included add the info about the original novel from Sato itself about Lina's past,included the date of special screening and the date for meet and greet with the main staff of the film. On June 13, Aniplex show out the 1st 2 minutes of the film

The film is getting english subbed on June 10 by Aniplex of America,and it's confirmed that the film was premiered in United States on July 28 The film also screening in South East Asia by Odex.

The film's theme song is "Speed Star" by Garnidelia.
